Pictures from RMI

This is what the initial stage of building a boat looks like.  Called a strong back, it will support the molds that give the boat its shape.

The first molds are set up

The transom is glued up

...And cut to shape

A laminated frame ready for installation

Structural fore and aft panels that will key into the molds

The laminated Fir stem ready for installation

All the molds are in place as well as the structural frames.  The stem in installed and the keelson running the length of the boat is being clamped into place

Thats a lot of C clamps!

The keelson is being hand planed to fair it into the stem

The transom is installed.  Notice how the keelson notches into it

And the fir strip planking begins!

A detail shot looking at the strip planking from the inside

At the bow, the planking is almost complete

Wide angle of the hull mostly planked

The last few planks go on.  Then, 1/8" veneers will be added in a diagonal pattern making up the cold molding.
